13th to 20th June 2027; Alajar, Andalucia

Retreat Information

Welcome to the Eildon Yoga Retreat in the whitewashed village of Alájar, nestled in the heart of the Sierra de Aracena. This week offers spacious yoga practices, nourishing food, peaceful surroundings, and time to reconnect with yourself at a natural, unhurried pace.

You’ll be staying at Posada San Marcos or TresVillas, two beautiful, family‑run eco guesthouses committed to sustainability and warm hospitality. Each day includes morning and evening yoga, delicious meals, and opportunities to explore the landscape, culture, and rhythms of rural Andalucía.

🌼 Why Alájar

The Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche Natural Park spans 184,000 hectares, 90% of it covered in Mediterranean oak woodland. The landscape blends rolling hills, wooded valleys, and dramatic rocky outcrops. Wildlife is abundant, from birds of prey to spring woodpeckers.

Whitewashed villages dot the region, many clustered around ancient churches or hilltop castles. The area is threaded with centuries‑old footpaths and drovers’ tracks, making it ideal for gentle or more adventurous walks.

The Sierra is also home to the famous black Iberian pigs, raised beneath holm oaks and fed on acorns that give jamón Ibérico its distinctive flavour. The most celebrated curing houses are in nearby Jabugo.

🌿 Where You’ll Stay

Posada San Marcos

“A place where strangers become friends and friends become family.” Sustainability is at the heart of everything Lucy and Ángel do. Their ecological philosophy enhances comfort rather than compromising it, and they have been recognised with multiple awards for meeting European ecological standards. Website: posadasanmarcos.es

TresVillas

A beautifully restored set of village houses offering comfort, privacy, and a deep sense of place. The owners have created a warm, welcoming environment that blends traditional Andalusian architecture with modern simplicity. Website: tresvillas.es

🌺 Who Will Be There

This retreat is yours to “do less and be more.”

You’ll be joined by up to twelve like‑minded guests, and Eildon Yoga will have sole use of Posada San Marcos for the week.

All daily activities — yoga, meals, gatherings, and shared experiences — take place at Posada San Marcos. Guests staying at TresVillas will join the group each day to dine, relax, and enjoy the facilities, ensuring everyone shares the same retreat experience and community feel.

Your teacher will be Andrea Beavon, owner of Eildon Yoga.

🌞 Andalucía in June

June in Andalucía is warm, bright, and generous. Expect temperatures between 27–30°C each day, with long hours of sunlight and soft evenings. Posada San Marcos is designed in the traditional Andalusian way to stay cool — thick walls, shaded patios, sheltered outdoor spaces, and quiet corners that hold the breeze. The salt‑water pool offers the perfect place to cool down throughout the day.

The garden is planted to enhance biodiversity and honour the local climate: fruit trees, herbs, lavender, succulents, and the wonderfully abundant “Moon Lemon” trees that scent the air.

🌿 Yoga in the Andalusian Summer

Yoga practice takes place at the coolest times of the day:

  • 7:15am — breathwork and asana

  • 6:00pm — restorative practice and yoga nidra

All sessions are optional and designed to support you, your body, and your energy levels. Some evening sessions may gently shift to include chanting, meditation, or dharma talks.

No previous yoga experience is required.
